New Foliage Train Offering for 2016
All Aboard the Haddam Special for a delightful fall foliage excursion, combining site-seeing, shopping, dining, and culture in the towns of Haddam and East Haddam.
Board the historic Essex Steam Train for a late morning departure from Essex Station. The northbound trip skirts untouched woodlands, trestle bridges, tidal marshes and inlets as you revel in the bountiful Connecticut River valley foliage. Pass through the quaint towns of Essex, Deep River, and Chester on your journey to Goodspeed Station serving Haddam and East Haddam. At Goodspeed Station, deboard the train for a 3+ hour visit to this historic river community joined together by the iconic 1913 East Haddam Swing Bridge. YOU choose your “shore” visits that include dining, shopping, sightseeing, an eco-riverboat cruise, Eagle Landing State Park – eveything that Haddam and East Haddam have to offer you!
Shuttle transportation to these nearby attractions is provided Free of Charge for patrons of the Haddam Special. Return to Goodspeed Station by 4:00 pm, for a southward back to Essex Station, a fall foliage adventure custom designed for your interests!
The Haddam Special is available on four weekends in October: Oct 1-2, Oct 8-9, Oct 15-16, and Oct 22- 23. Space is limited; advance reservations are a must. Advanced reservations to popular restaurants, tours, and Riverquest are strongly recommended.
