An Elevated Dining Experience aboard the Essex Clipper Dinner Train 
June 26, 2026. Boards at 6:30 PM, Departs at 7:00 PM, Returns at 9:30 PM

Our culinary team is excited to welcome you aboard the Essex Clipper Dinner Train for one of our three specialty dining experiences, departing Essex Station on select Fridays in 2026.

During the heyday of train travel in the United States, railroads heavily incorporated a blend of local and international cuisine when creating menus for their first-class dining cars. Inspired by the culinary traditions that shaped our present dining service, our chefs have crafted three unique prix-fixe menus to serve aboard our one-of-a-kind Pullman dining cars.

This limited dining series continues with our Evening in Tuscany Dinner Train, featuring a five-course menu with classic Italian dishes and elevated bar offerings. Relax and reconnect while our 21/2-hour scenic journey soothes away the stress of everyday life. Let the rhythm of the rails and our attentive staff transport you back to the day when rail travel was king and “dinner and the diner” was a delicious special occasion.


Table Bread 

House-made focaccia served with olive oil and olive medley


Table Appetizer

Charcuterie of crostini, berry medley, whipped honey ricotta, pumpkin seeds, heirloom tomato basil jam and olive tapenade


Salad Course

Caprese salad — heirloom tomato, fresh mozzarella, arugula with balsamic glaze

 

Dessert Selection

House-made Tiramisu — Layered Italian lady fingers, espresso, mascarpone cream topped with cocoa powder

    TERMS & CONDITIONS

      • Check in at Essex Station Ticket Window and Train Boarding: 6:30 pm
      • Train Departure from Essex Station: 7:00 pm (Trains can not hold for late arriving guests; trains do depart on schedule)
      • $10.00 of each ticket price is a non-refundable, non-transferable processing fee
      • Reservations are non-refundable, but fully transferable ($10.00 per ticket transfer charge applies) with 48-hours notice. Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable for late arriving guests and no show guests .
      • Meal Selections can not be changed within 48 hours of the excursion. Due to the limited kitchen space and provisions available on the train, no special menu alterations can be accommodated.
      • Beverages are not included in $149.99 per person fare
      • Alcoholic and Non Alcoholic beverages may be purchased onboard train. No beverages, especially alcoholic beverages, may be brought aboard the train due to our liquor license

      • Reservations will be assigned to specific tables. If you would like to sit with someone that has made a separate reservation please indicate in the notes section of your reservation. Maximum seats per table are four.

      • For safety reasons aboard the moving train and to ensure a relaxing ride for all patrons, the Essex Clipper Dinner Train is limited to passengers age 16 and older. No infants, please; all guests must be able to sit in the dining chairs aboard the train.
      • Reservations and payment are required.
      • The Valley Railroad reserves the right to alter equipment, schedule, and menu when necessary. The Essex Clipper Dinner Train does operate in all weather.
      Physical tickets will not be mailed or emailed. You will be checked-in upon arrival (30 minutes prior to Departure time) at the Essex Station Ticket Window.
